Mobile RV Generator Repair and Service

Help with a generator that will not start, stay running or supply power

Tell us how the generator behaves, whether it shows a fault code and when you last used it. We evaluate starting, running and power problems at your RV, along with maintenance needs. Your advisor explains the proposed work, estimate and scheduling.

What we hear from RV owners

Starting, running and power problems

✓ Cranks but won't start
✓ Starts, runs briefly, then shuts down
✓ Runs but AC won't kick in, low voltage or bad output
✓ Fault or lockout code on the panel
✓ Hard to start after sitting a season
✓ Excessive smoke or a rough idle
✓ Hasn't been serviced in years and needs interval work
✓ Auto-generator-start (AGS) won't trigger
✓ Exhaust louder or smokier than it used to be
✓ Runs on shore-power test but drops out under real load
✓ Battery for the generator start circuit going dead between trips

Reliable generator power starts with maintenance and a check of how the unit starts, runs and carries a load. Fault codes and operating history help guide a repair when performance changes.

What we service

Get your generator problem diagnosed before replacing parts

Starting trouble, shutdowns and a loss of power output call for different tests. Tell us what happens when you try to use the generator so we can plan the evaluation. Generators we service include Onan (Marquis Gold, MicroQuiet, QG, HDKAJ diesel), Generac, Cummins, and legacy units. Share the model and fuel type so we can confirm the service needed.

Diagnostic & Repair

Won't-start diagnostics, fault-code work, output and voltage testing, AGS troubleshooting, brush and slip-ring service, and component-level repair.

Scheduled Maintenance

Oil and filter service, air filter, spark plugs, fuel filter, valve adjustment, and load-bank testing on the interval your generator's manual specifies.

Season Restart

RV sat all summer? Ethanol-fouled carbs, stale fuel, weak batteries, and dried-out gaskets, we work through the whole list to bring the unit back online.

How the visit works

From diagnosis to an approved repair

1

Free written service estimate

You tell us the generator make, model, and what it's doing. We quote the visit in writing so you know the number before we schedule.

2

Diagnosis at your RV

An RV Service Now technician arrives, runs the unit, reads the panel, and identifies the fault or the interval work required.

3

Repair estimate, then the fix

After diagnosis, we provide a repair estimate covering parts and labor. Your advisor confirms parts availability and timing, and repairs proceed with your approval.

Why this matters here

Include the generator in your travel preparation

Share the generator model, fuel type, hours and service history when you call. We review the symptoms and maintenance needs using the requirements for the installed unit, then provide a written repair or service estimate.

Follow the exercise and service instructions for your generator model, including its ventilation and safety requirements.

A generator that will not start, shuts down or runs without supplying power needs different checks for each symptom. Diagnosis should establish the cause before parts are replaced.

Common questions.

Who will actually be working on my RV?

An RV Service Now employee arrives in a company vehicle and works directly with our service team. Tell your advisor about the RV and the work you need so we can match the visit to the right technician. Certificates of insurance are available on request.

My Onan cranks but won't start. Where do you begin?

We check the unit using the procedure for its model, fuel type and symptoms. Battery condition, fuel supply, controls and fault indications help guide the diagnosis before parts are recommended.

Do you carry parts for scheduled service on the truck?

The common maintenance parts (oil, filters, plugs, air filters): yes. Model-specific parts we stage in advance so we finish the work in a single visit.

My generator runs but the air conditioners won't come on. Bad generator or bad transfer switch?

Could be either. We test output voltage and frequency at the generator, then test through the automatic transfer switch. That isolates the fault and avoids replacing the wrong component.

How often should my generator be serviced?

Service intervals depend on the model, operating hours and time in service. We use the manufacturer's schedule for the installed unit and review your maintenance records before recommending work.

Can you fix ethanol damage from fuel that sat all summer?

Yes. Carburetor rebuild or replacement, fuel system flush, and fresh fuel and stabilizer to keep it from happening again. On modern EFI Onans we test the injectors and clean the system.

Should I use non-ethanol fuel or a stabilizer in my generator?

Follow the fuel and storage recommendations for your generator model. Tell your advisor the fuel type and storage history so we can plan the appropriate service.

Can you work on my generator at a campground or storage lot?

Yes. Driveway, storage lot, campground, resort. Wherever the RV is parked. We arrive in a fully stocked service van.
