Mobile RV Slide Out Motor Repair

Find why the slide clicks, stalls or will not move

A slide that will not move does not automatically need a new motor. We evaluate the drive system, controls and power supply to identify the cause, then explain the recommended repair and written estimate before replacing components.

What we hear from RV owners

Slide drive and control problems

✓ Nothing but a click at the switch, no movement
✓ Motor hums but the slide doesn't move
✓ One side leads or lags, room comes in crooked
✓ Controller shows a fault, lockout, or "sync" code
✓ Grinding or ratcheting from a gearbox or drive block
✓ Hydraulic pump runs but the slide barely moves
✓ Slide stops partway and won't finish the cycle
✓ Slide is stuck out and the RV needs to move
✓ Drive block worn, chewed, or shedding metal onto the rails
✓ Slide binds against the roof or floor at the end of travel
✓ 12V feeds tested good at the switch, still nothing at the motor

A slide that moves unevenly, binds or stops needs its drive and alignment checked before a motor is blamed.

What we service

Test the slide drive before choosing a repair

Tell us whether the slide clicks, moves unevenly or stops under load. We test the drive and controls to identify the repair needed. Systems we service include Lippert Schwintek in-wall, Power Gear rack-and-pinion, Lippert cable and hydraulic, and HWH hydraulic. Diagnose first, quote in writing, then repair. Motor, gearbox, or controller, we identify which one before ordering parts.

Motor & Gearbox

Motor and gearbox replacement across Schwintek, Power Gear, and Lippert systems. We measure the drive itself before we order a replacement, so the part matches your slide.

Controller & Sync

Controller replacement, resync procedures, and fault-code diagnostics on Lippert and Power Gear systems. Restores even travel on both sides of the room.

Hydraulic Pump & Cylinder

Hydraulic pump diagnosis, cylinder rebuilds, hose and fitting replacement, and fluid service on HWH and Lippert hydraulic slide systems.

How the visit works

From diagnosis to an approved repair

1

Free written service estimate

You describe the slide and what it's doing. We quote the visit in writing so you know the number before we schedule.

2

Diagnosis at your RV

An RV Service Now technician arrives, tests the mechanism under power, and identifies the motor, gearbox, or controller at fault.

3

Repair estimate, then the fix

After diagnosis, we provide a repair estimate covering parts and labor. Your advisor confirms parts availability and timing, and repairs proceed with your approval.

Why this matters

Investigate uneven travel or a new noise

A slide that binds or moves unevenly needs a system-specific diagnosis. We check the drive, controls and alignment before recommending a motor, gearbox or other part.

Describe the sound and which side of the slide is affected when you request service.

Bed and closet slide switches identify separate rooms. Tell us which room is affected and whether the switch produces movement, a click or no response; the controls are one part of the diagnostic path.

Common questions.

Who will actually be working on my RV?

An RV Service Now employee arrives in a company vehicle and works directly with our service team. Tell your advisor about the RV and the work you need so we can match the visit to the right technician. Certificates of insurance are available on request.

Motor or gearbox, how do you tell the difference?

We test the electrical supply, controls and drive components using the procedure for the installed system. That helps identify whether the issue is in the motor, gearbox or another part before ordering a replacement.

My Schwintek slide comes in cocked. Motor or controller?

Both are common on Schwintek. One side commonly falls behind due to a stripped gearbox, a worn drive block, or a controller that lost sync. We test each independently so you don't pay to replace the wrong one.

Can you get my slide in if it's stuck out and I need to travel?

Tell us the slide system, its current position and your departure plans. We assess the fault and the manufacturer's recovery procedure before attempting to secure it for travel. Keep the RV stationary until the slide is safely secured.

Do you replace the whole slide mechanism or just the failed part?

The estimate identifies the failed components and any related damage found during diagnosis. We explain the repair options before you approve parts or work.

Does the repair include recalibrating the slide?

Yes. We resync the controller, verify even travel on both sides, and confirm the slide seats correctly against the seals before we leave.

Should I lubricate the slide rails, and with what?

Use the maintenance instructions for your specific slide system. Products and lubrication points vary, and some surfaces should remain dry. Share the system details if you need help finding the right procedure.

Can you work on my slide-out at a campground or storage lot?

Yes. Driveway, storage lot, campground, resort. Wherever the RV is parked. We arrive in a fully stocked service van.
