RV Slide-Outs

Mobile RV Slide Out Repair

Help with a slide that is stuck, uneven or no longer seals properly

If your slide stops, moves unevenly or leaves a gap when closed, tell us what changed and whether it is extended. We evaluate the movement, drive system and surrounding seals or floor as needed, then explain the repair options and written estimate.

What we hear from RV owners

Changes in slide operation

✓ Slide won't move in or out, nothing but a click at the switch
✓ One side leads or lags, and the room comes in cocked
✓ Loud grinding or ratcheting when the slide moves
✓ Fault code or "sync" message on the controller
✓ Hydraulic pump runs but the slide barely moves
✓ Water intrusion at the slide edge on the last rain
✓ Seals hard, cracked, or peeling away from the frame
✓ Slide floor feels soft or the trim is separating

The underside of a slide reveals drive rails and attachment points that are not visible from inside the RV. Tell us where movement becomes uneven or a new noise occurs so the technician can inspect the relevant mechanism.

Find why a hydraulic slide will not move

When a hydraulic slide stops or moves unevenly, the cause may involve the controls, pump or connected components. Testing the system helps determine what needs repair rather than assuming the motor has failed.

A hydraulic slide that hesitates or stops may need inspection beneath the room. Check the cylinder, hose routing and attachments as part of the diagnosis.

When one slide will not respond, its control and hydraulic circuit need testing before a switch or pump is replaced.

Slide repair options

Choose help for movement, seals or floor damage

Movement problems, water entry and damaged flooring call for different evaluations. Use the service pages below to describe the concern, or call and tell us what the slide is doing.

Motor

Slide-Out Motor Repair

Motors, gearboxes, controllers, and syncing on Schwintek in-wall, Power Gear rack-and-pinion, Lippert cable, and hydraulic systems.

Motor & Controller Repair →

Seals

Slide-Out Seal Replacement

Wipe seals, bulb seals, D-seals, and corner molding, replaced correctly so the slide seals in and doesn't drag water in every time it rains.

Seal Replacement →

Floor

Slide-Out Floor Replacement

When water intrusion has already done the damage, we remove the deteriorated flooring and install durable replacement material so the slide operates safely again.

How the visit works

From diagnosis to an approved repair

1

Free written service estimate

You describe the slide and what it's doing. We quote the visit in writing so you know the number before we schedule.

2

Diagnosis at your RV

An RV Service Now technician arrives, tests the mechanism under power, checks the controller, and identifies the specific failure.

3

Repair estimate, then the fix

After diagnosis, we provide a repair estimate covering parts and labor. Your advisor confirms parts availability and timing, and repairs proceed with your approval.

Why this matters

A loose slide seal needs more than pushing it back into place

A slide can still move while its seal is damaged or displaced. Check why the material came loose and whether it can seal properly before deciding to reattach or replace it.

If a seal is hanging loose, call before cycling the slide again. Tell your advisor whether the room is extended and when you need to travel.

This seal has pulled away from the slide edge. It needs attention before repeated slide movement tears it farther. A service visit should check the attachment, the remaining seals and nearby surfaces for signs of water entry.

Common questions.

Who will actually be working on my RV?

An RV Service Now employee arrives in a company vehicle and works directly with our service team. Tell your advisor about the RV and the work you need so we can match the visit to the right technician. Certificates of insurance are available on request.

How do I know if my slide is a Schwintek, Power Gear, or hydraulic?

You usually don't have to. Send us the RV year, make, and floor plan and we'll identify the system before we come out. It matters because Schwintek in-wall diagnostics, cable-slide adjustment, and hydraulic troubleshooting are three different jobs with three different part paths.

My slide comes in crooked. Is that a motor or an alignment issue?

Depends on the system. On Schwintek and rack-and-pinion, one side commonly falls behind due to a stripped gearbox, a worn drive block, or a controller that lost sync. On hydraulic slides it's typically a mechanical bind. We diagnose both scenarios on the first visit.

Can you bring the slide in if it's stuck out and we need to travel?

Tell us the slide system, its current position and your departure plans. We assess the fault and the manufacturer's recovery procedure before attempting to secure it for travel. Keep the RV stationary until the slide is safely secured.

Do you replace slide seals as their own job, or only during a bigger repair?

Both. Seal replacement is a stand-alone visit. See the Slide-Out Seal Replacement page for that specific service.

My slide floor feels soft. Can it be fixed without pulling the room out?

Sometimes. It depends on how far the damage has spread and where the moisture entered. We open it up enough to see the substrate and give you an honest answer before committing to a scope.

Can you work on my slide-out at a campground or storage lot?

Yes. Driveway, storage lot, campground, resort. Wherever the RV is parked. We arrive in a fully stocked service van.
