Hot water problems we evaluate

No hot water or a heater that keeps shutting down?

Water is lukewarm, then cold within minutes
Gas side won't ignite, or ignites and cuts out
Electric heating element won't heat the tank
Water heater is leaking at the drain plug or a fitting
Popping or rumbling sounds when heating
Rusty or discolored hot water
Tankless unit throws an error code and won't stay lit
Pressure relief valve dripping constantly
RV water heater with exterior access panel open
No hot water, intermittent heating or water in the service compartment calls for a check of the heater and its connections.

Check why hot water stops or changes temperature

Tell us whether the heater fails to start, shuts off during use or changes temperature unexpectedly. A control message and the operating mode can help guide diagnosis, but testing is needed to confirm the cause.

Fluctuating hot water needs a check of water flow, supply conditions and heater operation.
Rotary RV water heater control
The selected operating mode and indicator status help explain a hot water complaint.
Digital RV water heater control panel
Control messages can help identify why hot water stops or the heater will not start.

For hot water that cuts out or will not reach temperature, the accessible heater components and supply conditions need checking alongside any fault information.

Built for Florida

Plan maintenance for reliable hot water

The service requirements for a tank water heater differ from those of a tankless model. We review the unit, its condition and maintenance history, then discuss appropriate service using the manufacturer's guidance.

Water heater service includes the accessible connections and components, not just the control inside the RV. Check the source of a leak or heating fault before replacing the unit.

Common questions.

Who will actually be working on my RV?

An RV Service Now employee arrives in a company vehicle and works directly with our service team. Tell your advisor about the RV and the work you need so we can match the visit to the right technician. Certificates of insurance are available on request.

My water gets warm but never hot. What's going on?

We check the controls, water flow and mixing, available energy sources and the condition of the heater. The diagnostic approach depends on whether you have a tank or tankless model.

My Suburban won't fire on gas. What do I check first?

Share the model, fault indication and whether it operates on electricity. A technician can check the ignition, controls and supply using the manufacturer's procedure. Leave propane pressure testing and component work to a qualified technician.

Should I replace or repair?

Depends on age and the failed part. A leaking Suburban tank is almost always a replacement. A failed gas valve on a five year old unit is worth repairing. If the numbers say replace, the written estimate says replace.

Can you convert my old tank water heater to a tankless?

Yes, in most RVs. Girard and Truma both make retrofit-friendly units. The conversion involves gas line work, electrical work, and cutout modification. We quote the whole scope before the swap starts.

How often should I flush an RV water heater in Florida?

Follow the service and flushing schedule for the specific model, taking water quality and usage into account. We can discuss maintenance once we know which heater is installed.

Do you handle warranty and extended service contract claims for water heaters?

We can help with diagnostic documentation and provider authorization. Coverage depends on your contract and the cause of failure. Share the contract before approving claim-related work, and see our claims service for the process.
