RV Water Leak Detection

Mobile RV Water Leak Detection

Trace the water source and document the affected areas

A stain, soft spot or damp cabinet tells you there is a concern, but not necessarily where the water entered. We investigate accessible areas, document the findings and explain the next step so repairs can address the source as well as the visible damage. The diagnostic fee is credited toward approved repairs.

What we hear from RV owners

Signs of water intrusion

✓ Water stain inside and no idea where it came in
✓ Soft floor, spongy wall, or bubbling sidewall
✓ Musty smell that won't go away
✓ Water shows up on the carpet after every rain
✓ You bought the RV used and want to know what you have
✓ Insurance adjuster wants a documented moisture report
✓ Pre-trip peace-of-mind check before you leave the state
✓ RV sat all summer and you want to know if anything got in
✓ Slide-out corners show black or gray staining on the flooring
✓ Trim, molding, or window frame separating from the sidewall
✓ Cabinet interior swollen, delaminated, or growing mildew

Replacing the loose vinyl alone would leave the important questions unanswered: where did the water enter, is the area dry now, and what material behind the finish needs repair? Any opening of concealed areas is discussed and authorized first.

Hanging slide interior vinyl and discolored woodgrain wrapped particleboard trim in a water damaged RV
In this water damaged coach, the slide interior vinyl is hanging loose and the woodgrain wrapped particleboard trim is discolored. This is more than a cosmetic finish issue. The inspection needs to establish the water source, whether moisture is still present and how far the damage extends before the area is covered or repaired.

What we do on the inspection

Locate the water entry point before choosing a repair

We inspect accessible areas using moisture readings and appropriate water testing to investigate suspected intrusion. The written findings include photographs and the locations evaluated, along with any limitations or recommended further work.

Moisture Mapping

Room-by-room moisture-meter readings inside, floors, walls, ceilings, slide corners, and around windows and vents. We map the readings so you can see where water is present, not just where it's staining.

Seam & Seal Inspection

Roof seams, roof fixtures, slide seals, window seals, and sidewall joints inspected in person, with photo documentation of every failed or failing sealant location.

Water Testing

When the source isn't obvious, we water-test suspected areas systematically to isolate exactly where water is entering, not just where it's showing up inside.

How the visit works

From diagnosis to an approved repair

1

Free written service estimate

You tell us what you're seeing (or not seeing yet). We quote the leak inspection in writing so you know the number before we schedule.

2

Inspection at your RV

An RV Service Now technician performs the moisture mapping, seal inspection, and water testing on site. Every finding is photographed.

3

Written report & repair estimate

You get a written report of what we found and a separate written estimate for the repair. If you book the repair with us, the inspection fee is credited toward the repair.

Why this matters

A stain shows where water appeared, not necessarily where it entered

Our evaluation traces the suspected water path instead of assuming the nearest seam is responsible. We document the areas tested and explain whether further access or testing is needed before a repair can be planned.

Tell us when the moisture appears and about any previous leak repairs.

Rear RV clearance light with a cracked and uneven seal around the lens housing
Cracks and separation around this clearance light create a possible water entry point. Inspecting and repairing the failed seal before interior staining appears can help avoid a larger water damage repair.

Common questions.

Who will actually be working on my RV?

An RV Service Now employee arrives in a company vehicle and works directly with our service team. Tell your advisor about the RV and the work you need so we can match the visit to the right technician. Certificates of insurance are available on request.

Is this the same as a pre-purchase inspection?

Related but not the same. A full pre-purchase inspection covers dozens of systems, from electrical and propane to appliances, roof, and safety equipment. A leak inspection is focused specifically on water intrusion and the seal points that cause it. If you want the full walk-through, see our Inspections page.

What if you don't find a leak?

The report records the areas evaluated, readings taken and any testing limitations. A dry result describes the conditions at that visit; your advisor can discuss further testing if symptoms continue.

How is the inspection fee credited toward repair?

If we perform the inspection and you book the repair with us, we credit the inspection fee against the repair estimate. Straightforward and disclosed on the written estimate up front.

Can you handle the repair on the same visit?

Small reseals and localized fixes, often yes. Larger repairs involving substrate replacement are staged as a separate scheduled visit so we can order materials and allocate the correct time.

Will this report work for an insurance claim?

Yes. Our written reports include photographs, moisture readings, and location documentation suitable for an insurance carrier or an adjuster.

Where do most RV leaks come from?

We investigate roof seams and openings, windows, slide seals and other suspected entry points based on the symptoms. The visible stain may be away from the source, so we trace the water path rather than assuming one location is responsible.

Can you do this at a campground or storage lot?

Yes. Driveway, storage lot, campground, resort. Wherever the RV is parked. We arrive in a fully stocked service van.
